Pest Control FAQs: Pricing, Inspections, and Contracts

The questions homeowners ask before they ever book.

How much does pest control cost on Long Island?

It comes down to your property size, which pest you are dealing with, and how much activity we find once we walk it. That is why we look first and price on site. A quarter acre in Levittown and a half acre with mature oaks in Stony Brook are two different jobs.

Am I locked into a contract with the quarterly plan?

Ask us during the inspection and we will lay out exactly how the CORE Pest Plan agreement works before you commit to anything. You will not sign something you have not read.

Why will you not just quote me over the phone?

Because we would be guessing, and you would be paying for that guess. Most customers tell us they would rather we inspect first so the number is accurate and fair. It takes a few minutes and it saves you a surprise later.

Is the inspection really free, or is there a catch?

No catch. We walk your property, tell you what we are seeing, and hand you a price before anything starts. You decide from there.

Do I get a better deal if I bundle mosquito or tick service with the quarterly plan?

You do. Customers on the CORE Pest Plan get discounted pricing on add on services like mosquito, tick, and carpenter ant treatment. If you are weighing more than one, bring it up during the inspection and we will price it together.

Timelines, Prep Work, and What to Expect

Friction questions we get after someone books their first pest control visit.

How fast can you get someone out to my house?

Call or text (631) 437-0007 and we will tell you the soonest opening on your side of the Island. Giancarlo covers the East Side and Louis covers the West Side, so you are getting a local schedule, not a call center queue.

What pests does the CORE Pest Plan actually cover?

Our quarterly pest control program covers:

  • Ants, excluding carpenter ants
  • Crickets, spiders, and centipedes
  • Stink bugs, earwigs, and millipedes
  • Wasps
  • Rodents, including one mouse or rat station

Carpenter ants, mosquitoes, ticks, and lanternflies are separate services, and quarterly customers get them at a discount.

Do I need to be home when you come?

For exterior work, no. We handle the outside and follow up with you afterward. If your service includes interior treatment or you want to walk the property with us, then yes, plan to be there.

Can my kids and my dog go back on the lawn after a treatment?

Our technician gives you a re entry window before leaving and follows up in writing, because it changes depending on which product went down and where. Ask at the door and you will get a straight answer, not a shrug.

What do I need to do before you show up?

For most exterior services, nothing. Clear a path around the foundation and unlock the gate. Flea, bed bug, and cockroach work is different. Those require real preparation on your end and we will walk you through the full list ahead of time. Skipping it undercuts the treatment.

What happens if pests show up between quarterly visits?

Tell us. That is the whole point of being on a recurring plan instead of calling around every time something crawls across the floor.

I keep hearing mice in the walls at night. How long until they are gone?

Mouse work runs a structured thirty day program, three visits and two installed stations. Rat service gets priced in person because every situation reads differently. Once the activity is handled, quarterly service is what keeps them from moving back in.

Will one visit take care of carpenter ants or cockroaches?

No, and we would rather say that up front. Carpenter ants usually take two to three visits. We use a non repellent product the ants carry back to the colony without realizing it, which is how we reach the source instead of just the ones crossing your counter. Cockroach work runs a minimum of three visits depending on how far along it is.

There is a wasp nest inside my wall. Can that be treated?

Yes. That one is a cutout, where we open the cavity and remove the nest. We also handle preventative eave and soffit treatment, general nest service, and physical removal including attic nests. If you are not sure which you need, that is what the inspection is for.

Pest Control FAQs

Pest Control FAQs: Mosquito, Tick, and Lanternfly Service

Our seasonal work runs on a different playbook than general pest control.

Why do you treat every three weeks instead of once a season?

Mosquitoes do not respect property lines. New ones keep drifting in from the yards around you no matter how clean your own is. Three weeks is the interval that keeps that pressure down through the season.

Do you spray the whole yard or just around the edges?

The whole property. Lawn, shrubs, bushes, under the deck, behind the shed, and the shaded damp corners where mosquitoes and ticks actually spend their time. A perimeter spray skips most of the places that matter.

What do you put down for mosquito and tick treatment?

All natural products, every time, for mosquito and tick service. We also bring our own water, so we are not running a hose off your spigot.

How do I know the technician actually covered my whole yard?

You watch it. On mosquito, tick, and spotted lanternfly service our technicians wear body cameras and send you a time lapse video after every treatment. You see where we went and what we hit. Customers bring this up more than anything else.

My yard is shaded and holds water. Is the standard mosquito program enough?

Probably not on its own. The premium program adds two mosquito larvicide stations, front yard and back, and we check and refill them every visit. Shade, moisture, and standing water are exactly the conditions it is built for. We will tell you honestly at the inspection whether you need it.

How late in the year can I start mosquito and tick service?

Our seasonal program runs through the end of November. Starting earlier means far less to manage by August, but there is still real value in getting on it midseason.

Why are lanternflies all over my trees but nothing in my lawn?

Because they live on vertical surfaces, not in grass. That is the part most people get wrong. We treat tree trunks up to fifteen feet, plus shrubs, eaves, and siding, using all natural products. Treating the lawn does almost nothing for them.

Licensing, Coverage, and Who Shows Up

The last set of pest control FAQs, and the ones that decide who you call.

Are you licensed for pest control in New York State?

Yes. The Pest Paisan – The Mosquito Guido carries New York State Pesticide Business License #C1912558 for residential and commercial work. We are also BPI Certified and Google Verified.

Who is actually going to show up at my house?

The owners and our trained technicians. Giancarlo D’Andraia runs the East Side and Louis Plumitallo runs the West Side. Locally owned and operated on Long Island, born and raised here, not a franchise following a script written out of state.

Do you service my town in Nassau or Suffolk County?

We cover all of Long Island across both counties. Territory splits East and West between the two owners. If you are not sure where you land, call or text and we will tell you straight either way.

Do you handle commercial properties, or just homes?

Both. Commercial pest control runs on the same exterior first, low intrusion approach on a schedule you set, so we are not walking through your business during operating hours. Property managers tend to like that it is one less thing to think about.

Will pest control get rid of every pest permanently?

No company being honest with you will promise that. What recurring service does is keep populations down and stop pests from settling on your property in the first place. That is exactly why we build almost everything around the quarterly CORE Pest Plan instead of one and done visits.
